Argentine Tango

Slow Dance Connection is no longer offering Argentine Tango. Once we started offering Slow Dancing classes, most of our incoming students chose Slow Dancing over Argentine Tango, causing us to cancel too many Tango classes to comfortably continue offering these series. We leave this page here as a resource to previous tango students and for those interested in our history.

We are part of a network of Argentine Tango teachers whose classes form The8thStyle School of Tango. Upon completion of Tango 102 our students, prepared to dance socially, will also be ready to take Tango M103 and beyond in Seattle. We encourage you to check out www.the8thstyle.com to learn more about the school and our approach to teaching tango.

Tango 101- The Foundation

This series covers the five most common movements of milonguero style tango: changing weight and walking, back ochos exiting with the cross, the rock-rock turn to the left, turn to the right, and the quintessential ocho cortado. We cover ground quickly, focusing on the connection, musicality, and technique necessary to execute each figure gracefully. Be prepared to get close! Previous dance experience and signing up with a partner are both recommended but not required.

Tango 102- Improvising with Confidence

In this series, students learn simple ways to connect and blend the five basic movements into an array of possibilities that will bring endless hours of tango joy. Upon the completion of this series, students have the vocabulary needed to enjoy dancing with all kinds of people in all kinds of situations, to all kinds of music. As with Tango 101, the focus of the series will be on connection and technique. As before, students dance body to body.
